In the early days when film music was new, not every filmmaker wanted film music. A film came out in 1945 called the Lost Weekend. The film protrayed an alcholic man struggling with his addiction. It was released without film music and was greeted by laughter and mockery. Thinking the movie a failure the plan was to scratch it. But the studio brought in a film composer whose score changed the perception of the film so much that it later went on to receive academy awards. That is the power of film music!
